BY TREVOR MUTSVAIRO A 27-year old Harare man who is part of a gang that allegedly broke into a house, threatened their victim with death and got away with US$14 000 has been arraigned before the courts facing robbery charges.
Calvin Kuponda appeared before Harare Magistrate Yeukai Dzuda charged with robbery.
Allegations are that on January 16, 2021, around midnight, Kuponda with other accomplices who are still at large, pounced at the complainant’s house 144 Alexandra Drive, Harare armed with a pistol.
They threatened to shoot the complainants before getting away with US$14 000, mobile phones and other goods including car keys.
On January 25, the complainant bumped into Kuponda at Kilwinning shopping centre and alerted the police leading to his arrest.
Property worth US$18 000 was stolen.
