A MACHETE-WIELDING gang from the Midlands province has been accused of attacking five people, and killing one on the spot at Shamva Mine.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe yesterday confirmed the case, but said the gang members were still on the run, while police is on a manhunt for them.

It is alleged that the gang was on a revenge mission when they committed the offence sometime in December last year.

This was after two of their colleagues were murdered last year in Shamva in a dispute over gold.

The gang, led by Gift Komeni and Charles Mupedziswa, popularly known as Chamboko, stormed Shamva Mine armed with axes, spears and machetes while on a manhunt for people they accused of killing their colleagues on December 15 last year.

The gang allegedly disembarked from two commuter omnibuses without registration plates and attacked Virimai Gutsa (41), Learnard Madzinga (26) and Godious Chisadza (29).

Molyn Kanjamuka was attacked at a different place, while Farai Pfundi (41) was found dead with deep cuts all over the body.

Pfundi’s body was taken to Shamva Hospital for post-mortem.
