STATE-OWNED mobile operator NetOne on Monday donated Christmas groceries worth $300 000 to St Agnes Children’s Home in Gokwe, Midlands province.

“As part of NetOne’s 25th anniversary celebrations, NetOne has taken time to alleviate the plight of the less privileged members of the society,” NetOne head of marketing and public relations Roselyn Chisveto said.

“Christmas is a time to share love and giving, at such a time it is important to reach out to the less privileged, elderly and the disabled.

“As NetOne we have come up with this initiative to share the Christmas cheer with the orphans, the elderly and the disabled.”

Sister Lilian Murakwani, speaking on behalf of St Agnes Children’s Home said the donation was  a timely boost for the festive season.

“NetOne has remembered us at the right hour as we are entering the festive season. We are truly grateful for the generous gesture which will go a long way in bringing a smile to our children,” she said.

St Agnes Children’s home was founded in 1981 to cater for orphans.

The centre is home to 20 children between 2 and 18 years old
