Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo called on writers to take part in the storywriting competition.

BY SHARON SIBINDI INTWASA Arts Festival koBulawayo has said 20 contestants from 198 entries have been shortlisted for this year’s Intwasa short storywriting competition.

The winner, who will be announced on November 8, will pocket US$300.

Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo called on writers to take part in the storywriting competition.

In an interview with NewsDay Life & Style, Intwasa festival director Raisedon Baya said quality had improved for this year’s competition.

“The themes, issues in stories were varied. Some of the writers were quite daring. Most are good writers and 20 were shortlisted,” he said.

“It’s winner takes all, but the shortlisted ones will be invited for a writer’s workshop before year end.”

The 20 shortlisted writers include Tawanda Vombo, Rufaro Chengeto Mayowe, Gift Mukunga, Clariss Rufaro Masiya, Mncedisi Malinga, Beverley Ann Abrahams, Emelda Nyaradzai Gwitimah, Anesu Blessing Shava, Silondoloziwe Dhlodlo, Chioniso Tsikisayi, Kudzai Mhangwa, Nqobizwe Malinga, Tinashe Tafirenyika, Tinashe Chipenyu, Lungile Msimanga, Zibusiso Mpofu, Ryan McEnery Timothy, Ntombiekamama Moyo and Dalubuhle Moyo.
