CONSTRUCTION of a community archive centre in the resort town of Kariba is taking shape.

The centre will be a repository of the history of Kariba in the form of audios, visuals, hard copy and digitals.

“This will be a beneficial establishment for the public, researchers, school learners, tourists and others,” Kariba Publicity Association (KPA) programmes co-ordinator Nyasha Muzibwa said.

She added: “We impart this information so that members and the community will be apprised of the foregoing developments. The office will undergo repairs and adjustments to accommodate this development.

“This is part of the Home Affairs ministry’s 100-day quick win projects. The proposal was accepted and an assessment tour was made to determine a suitable place for such a facility and the KPA office or the observation building was chosen.”

The National Archives of Zimbabwe visited the resort town early this month on a mission to propose the establishment of the centre.
