PLUMTREE-BASED rising fine artist Ntobedzi Ncube (23) has turned his artistic hobby into a source of inspiration for many people who now view him as a role model.

In an interview, Ncube said drawing has been a hobby since childhood.

“As I grew up, the interest in art also grew more and more. I decided to teach myself through the internet (YouTube) and also consult other artists,” he said.

“Through internet research I came across various legendary artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michael Angelo and Donatello, who motivated and inspired me.”

Ncube said he attained his education at Embakwe High School which did not offer art subjects and this made him practice it as a hobby.

“I have drawn Nelson Mandela, Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo, Bob Marley and President Emmerson Mnangagwa. I do sell my work, but people in Plumtree are not interested in art because of low exposure,” he said.

“I am currently teaching myself digital art through designing logos, posters and flyers for certain individuals. I try to earn a living through repairing computers and drawing portraits of local people.”

Ncube said his work is available online on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram for viewing.

“Recently I have not yet had any access to the art gallery to showcase my work because of the location I am based,” he said.
