Zimbabwe cricket prodigy Wesley Madhevere has jumped a massive 88 places in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 battings ranking after he emerged as the country’s highest run scorer in the just ended T20I series against Pakistan at Harare Sports Club.

Madhevere scored a total of 89 runs including a valiant 59 in 47 ball albeit in a losing cause in the third and final match of the three match series.

The 20-year-old all-rounder is now ranked 132 and is slowly inching towards breaking into the top 100 of the individual standings with the bat.

Craig Ervine advanced 20 slots to 126th position in the latest update.

Captain Sean Williams remains the highest ranked Zimbabwe batsman on the ICC T20 rankings on position 68 and is the only player in the top 100.

Seamer Blessing Muzarabani is also the country’s highest ranked bowler in T20I cricket with Williams (92) and Tendai Chisoro the only other players in the top 100.

Williams dropped a place on the all-rounder’s ladder and is now ranked seventh while Ryan Burl broke into the top 20 as he occupied 19th place.

Pakistan won the T20I series 2-1 inspired by opener Mohammad Rizwan who struck unbeaten knocks of 82 and 91 in the first and third matches.

It is a performance such as this that helped the Pakistani wicketkeeper make a maiden entry into the top 10 of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings.

The team rankings also saw Zimbabwe move up one slot to 11th position after gaining three points. Pakistan, who needed to sweep the series to maintain their tally of 262 points, have lost two points but remain fourth on the list.
