A CHIPINGE man has applied for a protection order against his four children, accusing them of threatening to kill him for allegedly practicing witchcraft.

Musauemura Chitekuteku (72) sought a protection order against his daughter and three sons. He filed his affidavit before Chipinge magistrate Joshua Nembaware on May 10, but the protection order was only granted last week.

“I am the applicant in this matter and respondents are Tichaona, Tedious, Richman and Tsitsi. They come to my home intending to kill me. They said I bewitched their brother who died in South Africa. I have come to court for assistance. They go around shouting at me, saying I am a wizard, I am now afraid to go to the fields. We irrigate at night, so if I go to the fields at night they might attack me,” Chitekuteku said.

However, in his response, Tichaona said when their brother died in South Africa, their father said they should go and consult traditional healers to find out the cause of his death.

The other respondents did not object to the protection order.
