Two Zanu PF youths who defrauded three of their colleagues of $1 080 in a land scam, have been slapped with an 11-month jail term each by a Concession magistrate.

Simon Madzudzo (33) and Musa Mukahiwa (41) pleaded guilty on Tuesday to three counts of fraud when they appeared before magistrate Nyasha Machirori.
Prosecutor, Munyaradzi Nengomasha said the duo on May 30 met Garikai Kudakwashe Kaparadza at Valley Business Centre and convinced him to part with $350 to get land and an offer letter from the Ministry of Lands.
On the same day they used the same modus operandi to trick Eria Danger of Mvurwi of the same amount of money before finally duping Eunice Gede of her $380,which she paid for via EcoCash.
In mitigation, the duo pleaded with the magistrate to consider that they will repay the complainants as they were friends and belonged to the same political party.
“Your worship we are begging you not to send us to jail since we are willing to pay back our colleagues from Zanu PF youth league. It is only that our processes were delayed but we can facilitate the land if given a bit of time,” said Mukahiwa.
The magistrate suspended four months of the sentence on condition that they restitute the three complainants their combined $1 080 before November 30.

An additional two months were suspended on condition that the duo completes 70 hours of community service at Mvurwi Primary School.
The remainder of the sentence was suspended on condition that they do not commit a similar offence in the next five years.
