MUSIC superstar, Oliver Mtukudzi on Friday paid tribute to the late South African anti-apartheid politician, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela with a performance at a special concert held in her honour at the Opera Theatre in Pretoria, South Africa.

The all-black concert celebrated the late Madikizela-Mandela’s life through dance, poetry and storytelling.
At the concert, Tuku shared the stage with South African artistes such as Sibongile Khumalo, Rebecca Malope, Thami Mdluli, the Soweto String Quartet, Zahara, Mzwakhe Mbuli, Tshwane Gospel Choir and Kunle from Nigeria.
The theatre was fully-packed with others having to follow the concert on giant screens outside the venue.
Tuku proved his mettle with a brilliant performance.
Theatre chief executive officer, Sibongiseni Mkhise, said in a statement, they paid tribute to Madikizela-Mandela, as she was a passionate supporter of the arts and always engaged with young artistes.
“She (Madikizela-Mandela) told stories of pre- and post-apartheid South Africa. Her last visit to the theatre was in August last year and her presence was a special moment for the cast and audience in the gallery,” he said.

Mtukudzi’s manager, Walter Wanyanya told NewsDay Life & Style that it was an honour for the Neria hit maker to be asked to pay tribute to Madikizela-Mandela.
“The invite came from those she worked with and family and it was an honour to be asked to pay tribute to Mama Winnie.
“We count it as a blessing to represent our nation in this manner.”
Meanwhile, the Women’s Institute of Leadership and Development (Wild) on Saturday also held commemorations for the late Madikizela-Mandela.
