Zec conducted four phases to register people under the BVR exercise, ahead of this year’s elections.

Contracted government workers who took part in the registration process, said they received only 30% of their payment for phases three and four.

One of the contracted workers told NewsDay that there has been no communication from Zec about the non-payment of their allowances.

“People are talking and they are not happy. We have tried to contact them (Zec) but nothing is being done. What frustrates us is that other areas have been paid fully and we want to know what happened to the payment for staff in Matabeleland North and South,” the officer said.

Questions sent to Zec chairperson Justice Pricilla Chigumba on Tuesday have not yet been responded to at the time of going to Press.

Zec chief elections officer Constance Chigwamba yesterday said the questions were still being responded to.

“Someone is working on your email and you will get the response soon,” she said.
