Yekelani Mudenda of Chisuma village in Malayila in Binga was convicted for indecent assault and unlawful entry by magistrate Rosemary Dube.

He was remanded in custody to tomorrow for sentencing.

The court heard that on January 1 this year, Mudenda proposed love to his 33-year-old stepmother, Shylet Mwembe, but was spurned.

The following night, Mudenda went to his parents’ homestead and noticed that the door had been tightly secured and forced his way through a plastic sheet covering the bedroom window and then caressed his stepmother’s private parts.

The woman was jolted from her sleep and alerted her husband Herbert Muleya, who drew closer to the window and positively identified his son.

The matter was reported to police, leading to Mudenda’s arrest.
