The two-day festival, which is held every last weekend of the month, is meant to exhibit traditional food and crafts.

Transit Crew will be sharing the stage with reggae songstress Sister Flame at an event that is set to attract a number of food lovers, craft enthusiasts and reggae music fans.

The ensemble’s spokesperson, Tawonga Mafundikwa, said Transit Crew had become a band of choice during festivals having participated at Hifa, Miombo Magic and, now, the Food Festival.

“The organisers have chosen Transit Crew to feature permanently at the festival which runs monthly and this is a clear recognition of the hard work that the group is putting into their act which has been solidified by the arrival of brand new vocalists,” he said.

Machikichori Festival organiser Rhoda Mandaza said they were expecting scores of people at the festival judging by the response they got at the inaugural event held early this month.

“The response was overwhelming during the first edition of the food and craft fair and we are expecting more people to come as we host the second edition on Saturday and Sunday,” she said.

The Machikichori Food and Craft Festival was launched early this month and the brainchild of Mandaza and top comedian Joshua Carl Ncube.

Machikichori Garden is an outdoor venue in Newlands where Zimbabwean traditional food is served. Much of the menu was inspired by the comedian who is also a chef by profession.
