Machaya (45), an elder brother to Togarepi, and his younger sister Tsungirirai (39) have contributed the tracks Mwari Ndiye Tsvingo and Muna Vanhu Wenyu Mwari respectively to the album.

The South Africa-based Togarepi confirmed the developments and said it had been always his wish to work alongside his siblings.

“Ours is a music family. We started off as a family choir trained by my father, who was a renowned chorister in Gokwe. It is time for us to sing as a family,” he said.

Machaya, who is a member of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, featured the Trinity Methodist Church on the hymn Mwari Ndiye Tsvingo.

“Just like me, he also has a deep husky voice and I know people may mistake him for me,” Togarepi said.

“My younger sister also recorded her first single, another Methodist Hymn called Muna Vanhu Venyu Mwari, which is also featured on our album.”

Both Machaya and Tsungirirai will perform live during the album launch in Harare.

“I did a song, which is a hymn from the MCZ, and I am going to perform it live come launch day,” Tsungirirai told NewsDay.

Meanwhile, all is set for the launch of the album Maranatha, with the first event being held in Germiston, South Africa, before another launch on April 4 at the Anglican Cathedral in Harare.

Chivaviro, famed for the song Ebenezzer, went on to release another album, Mhepo Inoperekedza, which did well on local charts.

Songs on the upcoming album include Tariro Yangu, Maranatha, Zvaitwa Zvaitwa, Wabaiwa, Chechi Yoenda Sehondo (featuring Oliver Mtukudzi), Muna Vanhu Wenyu, Mwari Ndiye Tsvingo, Dondifemerai and Dzokera Kwavabva.
