The gig is meant to officially launch the open-air Surrey Braai Area that has been under construction for the past few months.

The Madhawu hitmaker will share the stage with Pengaudzoke frontman, Faheem Somanje.

Surrey Group is one of the leading abattoirs and meat processors in the country.

The company’s national sales manager, Ranganayi Zihumo, confirmed that all was set for the braai party.

“We have been working on this braai area for months and we are happy it is now ready and complete. We then thought of officially launching it by hosting a sort of braai festival that will see Alick Macheso and Pengaudzoke entertaining the audience,” he said.

“This is a family event and this is the reason we have decided to host it in the afternoon on a Sunday. After Macheso, we will be hosting other musicians, since we now have a ready venue.”

When NewsDay visited the venue recently, the big open space, prepared under gumtrees, had two big built-in braai stands, while 12 portable ones had been already installed.

The braai area is as big as a football pitch, with party lovers having the opportunity to park their vehicles inside. There are also immovable benches and tables.

“This is a gift to the people of Marondera and other areas, who have hitherto, been travelling to Harare in search of entertainment. We are happy that we now offer such missing services, and entertainment lovers will now purchase meat and have their braais at the same place,” Zihumo said.
