A CHINHOYI-BASED community newspapers publisher, DeeKay Media Services, has threatened to sue four top-ranking Zanu PF officials for failing to pay for production of their 2013 election campaign material.

Higher and Tertiary Education deputy minister Godfrey Gandawa (MP Magunje), legislators Kenneth Musanhi (Bindura North), Wonder Mashange (Rushinga) and Isaac McKenzie (Kariba) allegedly advertised their campaign manifestos in the four newspapers run by DeeKay Media Services, but failed to pay for the services.
The company’s director, Dennis Kagonye, told NewsDay yesterday that his lawyers were finalising paperwork to nail the “errant” lawmakers, saying the debts had crippled operations in the community newspaper group.
“Our lawyers are busy working on the requisite paperwork so that all debtors honour their side of the bargain. Our business has suffered prejudice yet the same senior Zanu PF politicians parrot the ZimAsset and indigenisation mantra, but are the ones pulling fellow Zimbabweans down.
“We read these politicians are buying private jets and living posh lifestyles yet they fail to pay paltry sums in advertising fees to keep us afloat,” Kagonye said, singling out Gandawa as owing “several thousands of dollars”. Kagonye was not at liberty to disclose exactly how much was involved.
“The country is bracing for yet another election and these Zanu PF politicians are still to pay for services rendered three years ago,” he said.
Efforts to get comment from Gandawa were fruitless yesterday as his mobile phone went unanswered while Musanhi and Mashange’s numbers were unreachable.
