This followis a memorable campaign, which saw the Harare giants winning the ultimate prize in domestic football and ending 11 years of waiting.

The Green Machine had last laid their hands on the championship way back when it was under Charles Mhlauri who led them to back to back championship in 2004 and 2005.

Several attempts to get to the winners’ podium by Caps United have been stubbornly elusive.

But the decision by club president, Farai Jere to hire coach, Lloyd Chitembwe in September last year culminated in the team realising its long cherished dream.

And the club leadership has decided that the success story cannot just pass without rewarding the stars who stood out in a very competitive campaign to make the dream a reality. Tonight, they will honour players in several categories with biggest individual accolade — the Player of the Year award one of the categories.

Players will also choose the man whom they feel stood out during the campaign in the Players’ Player of the Year award category while there will also be the Supporters’ Player of the Year, Top Goal Scorer, Rookie of the Year, Most Disciplined player, Most Loyal Player and the Most improved Player.

There will also be the president’s award, which he will give to a player, official or supporter of his choice. Reigning Soccer Star of the Year Hardlife Zvirekwi is likely to face stiff competition from the likes of Ronald Pfumbidzai and Leonard Tsipa, who also had a good season.

Tsipa is sure to bang the club’s Top Goal Scorer Award after scoring 11 goals that propelled his club to glory.

The veteran striker who who turns 35 on January 25 defied odds staked against him to win the Golden Boot with 10 of his goals scored in a winning cause while the 11th goal secured a point in the 2-2 draw against ZPC Kariba.

He topped the league’s scoring chats and was also voted as one of the 11 best players of the season.
