The materials were launched at the Alliance Francaise in support of the 16 Days of Activism Against Sexual Violence.

They were meant to highlight interventions that MSF has put in place to assist survivors of sexual violence.

MSF Belgium head of mission for Zimbabwe, Bjorn Nissen, said his organisation had noted that, while service providers often spoke on behalf of survivors, it was important to give the survivors themselves an opportunity to speak about their experiences.

“We did this to remove the stigma that is associated with being a survivor of sexual violence. We want communities to see that survivors can get assistance after they have been raped especially if they seek medical treatment early,” he said

The book, titled The Book of Hope, was written by Elizabeth Kawadza and highlights experiences of survivors of sexual violence and various coping strategies.

It also gives assurance to survivors that there is hope after abuse.

The wall mural, which was part of the package, was unveiled in Mbare.

It was done by Munyaradzi and Pamela Tapfumaneyi Mugorosa, Anusa Salanje, Victor Nyakauru and Edwin Chinyama. Artistes, including Edith Weutonga, Ras Caleb and BaShupi, performed at the launch.
