Isaac Madaka (35) pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempting to obstruct the course of justice when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove on Monday.

The matter was remanded to November 21 for trial and Madaka is out of custody on free bail.

Prosecutor Kudakwashe Jaravaza told the court that on May 29 Madaka was travelling in a white Toyota Quantum from Bulawayo towards Gweru.

The kombi approached the 101-kilometre peg along the Bulawayo-Harare Road where the driver, whose name was not stated, was arrested for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Madaka disembarked from the Kombi and approached the police officers manning the roadblock and tried to stop them from arresting the driver. This led to his arrest for obstruction of justice.
