INVESTMENT banker and former ENG capital director, Gilbert Muponda, was appointed AB Communications chief operating officer with effect from yesterday.

In a statement, AB Communications said Muponda would be in charge of driving the group’s current business operations and leveraging its assets for aggressive growth and expansion.

Tendai Madondo, who has been station manager at ZiFM Stereo, was promoted to managing director for regional stations, and was charged with the responsibility of completing the set-up and launch of Hevoi FM (Masvingo) and 98,4 FM (Gweru).

Tonderai Katsande becomes the acting station manager of ZiFM Stereo, while Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa was promoted to a senior position within Mighty Movies.

“In its quest to promote shared services, the group has made fundamental adjustments to its business model. With immediate effect, sales departments from the various group entities have been merged into one unit in order to provide a more efficient and cost-effective service to the group and its stakeholders,” the company said.

It said Peggy Mvududu remained the managing director for Mighty Movies, while Kelvin Jakachira would continue as group head of news and current affairs, with an added mandate to spearhead the launch of new media products.

Susan Makore remains the group CEO.
