Kunaka initiated the formation of the Zimbabwe Rural Schools Library Trust, while studying with the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand.

The publication, which explores topical issues in New Zealand from early childhood through to tertiary education, illustrates how the featured students made practical use of the knowledge received during training.

Kunaka has attributed the Trust’s achievements to team work.

“We are equal partners and it is all about team work and I am impressed that we have a lot of enthusiastic team of players, who put their best effort for the trust to achieve results, both here in New Zealand and in Zimbabwe,” he said.

Kunaka said the local project — which revolves around getting people who passed through schools whose infrastructure needs to be improved, to give back to those schools through supporting reading and library establishment initiatives, is a test case which the trust will export to other countries.

ZRSLT chairperson, Matthew Chandaengerwa has described Kunaka as a hardworking professional, who has a caring heart for others.

“Not many would have initiated the establishment of a charitable venture in the middle of studies, with a family to look after and while also working full-time. We in the Zimbabwe Rural Schools Library Trust are not surprised because the man is a workaholic, who seems to be inspired by challenges,” he said.
