The expo runs from September 29 to October 1.

The Kwekwe Expo manager Howard Masaninga confirmed to NewsDay that Mlambo would be guest of honour at the event, which kicks off with a business day.

Masaninga was part of the delegation that travelled to Harare last week to engage Mlambo.

“We met with him and his team in Harare last Tuesday to finalise on the issue after the RBZ governor John Mangudya, whom we had initially invited, indicated to us that he could not assume the role due to other pressing commitments and seconded his deputy,” he said.

Other members of the delegation were Eric Musesengwe, chairperson of Kwekwe Publicity Association and the association’s co-ordinator Rachel Dube.

Last year, the expo was officially opened by JR Goddard director Jim Ross Goddard.

This year’s Kwekwe Expo will run under the theme Citizen Participation in Building Sustainable Development.

“On Friday evening, we will host the Miss and Mr Kwekwe Expo, which is expected to draw large crowds before winding up the expo on Saturday,” he said.

He added that this year, they expected a bigger and better expo, as the response from exhibitors was quite encouraging.
