BULAWAYO bodybuilders will battle it out for a slots to compete at the 2016 Mr and Ms Iron Man Zimbabwe, when they clash in the Mr and Ms Bulawayo qualifying contest at Elite tonight.

The competition, which has been running for more than 30 years, is hosted by Bulawayo Metropolitan Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (BMBFA).

According to BMBFA organising secretary, Simon Gama, there are four categories from which 12 winners will be selected to compete for this year’s national finals in Harare.

The categories include Juniors Under-21, Seniors One Line-Up, Ladies Fitness Figure and Men’s Fitness Physic.

Gama said Lovemore Munyamana and Shantel Greenland were last year’s winners and will defend their titles.

He added that bodybuilding in Bulawayo had improved compared to the previous years and more than five new gyms had been opened in the city.

“For the past two years, we have seen women compete and this is a pleasing development unlike the previous years where it was just men who were involved.

“In the past two years, the Ms Novice title has been taken by Bulawayo women. The judges will look at muscle, chest in men and in women and they will also consider the tummies. There will be entertainment from aerobic display and Zumba display,” he said.

Mr and Ms Bulawayo is a closed group for Matabeleland and the winners will walk away with prizes such as supplements and iPhones.

The event is sponsored by Thomson Mpala, Sports Zone, Clarion Insurance and Body Works.
