The 2012 Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year is back in the country following the expiry of his contract with South African side Bidvest Wits University.

The 23-year-old has been training with Dynamos since Tuesday and yesterday spoke about his desire to reunite with his former coach Lloyd Mutasa at DeMbare, who initially brought him to the club and fame in 2011.

When asked if he would like to rejoin the club, Mukamba said: “It’s up to Dynamos. I am back home and would want to help the team. They are in a bad position, but it’s up to the leadership. I believe Dynamos can get out of this and challenge for honours.”

Mukamba was part of the team at their training yesterday as they prepared for their encounter with Ngezi Platinum on Sunday and was a marvel to watch with his well-timed runs and close ball control.

While Mutasa said he would have wanted Mukamba to play, the reunion with his star will have to wait a bit amid reports that the club and the players management are yet to conclude negotiations. Mukamba’s manager Gibson Mahachi said no deal had been sealed yet.

“There is no deal signed yet. Dynamos have shown interest, but there has not been any progress in the negotiations so far. He is just training with them, that’s the official position,” Mahachi said.

The former Dynamos midfielder enjoys a good working relationship with Mutasa since their days at Kiglon before they came to the Harare giants together.

He was one of the brightest prospects in Zimbabwean football before he went to South Africa. He had a memorable season in 2012 and was voted the best player — a feat that saw him attracting interest from Bidvest Wits who went on to sign him on.

He was also a big favourite of former Warriors coach Klaus Dieter Pagels who even gave him the armband to lead the national team.
