LOCAL private commercial radio station, ZiFM Stereo, has been nominated for the Trumpet Africa Gospel Music Awards (Tagma) for its Sunday gospel programme, Get Lifted, hosted by Samantha Rusare.
BY ARTS REPORTER
The inaugural Tagma awards will be held in South Africa at the Pretoria State Theatre on May 29.
The Tagma is aimed at honouring gospel music artistes, developing gospel talents and exposing the underdogs in the gospel industry to the world.
The programme was nominated under the Best Gospel Radio Programme category together with Sunday Gospel of Kenya’s Milele FM, VOC of Swaziland’s Mphefumulo Wami and Moment of Delivery of Radio Christian Voice from Zambia.
Rusare said she was very excited at the nomination. “I’m over the moon that my programme has been nominated for this one-of-its kind continental gospel awards,” she said.
“It shows that our work as ZiFM Stereo is being recognised at a global level and the nomination raises the station’s flag high.”

Other local gospel pragrammes nominated for the Tagma are ZBC-TV’s Morning Praise Zimbabwe, which has been nominated for the Best Gospel TV Programme category, while Togarepi Chivaviro and Friends’ Ebenezer has been nominated for the Best Gospel Collaboration category together with Bonnie Deuschle and the Celebration Choir.
Although the inaugural Tagma are set for South Africa, they will rotate in different African countries — with all 54 African ambassadors in attendance.
The continental gospel event will see Chivaviro and other artistes from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa and Swaziland performing live.
