THE National Federation of Body Building of Zimbabwe (NFBBZ) has taken its begging bowl to the corporate world as they seek resources to finance a local team set to compete at the International Federation of Body Building (IFBB) Arnold Classic Africa slated for May 27-29 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The NFBBZ has already covered 70% of the costs in transport and registration fees for the participating athletes.
NFBBZ spokesperson Quiet Shangai said while they had catered for some of the costs, the organisation was still short of the required resources to partake in this important tournament.
“It is imperative for us to ensure that our athletes are able to participate at this year’s Arnold Classic extravaganza and we are therefore appealing to the corporate world to come forward and support this national cause,” he said.
“Arnold Classic events have two leagues — that is the amateur league and professional league popularly referred to as pro league.
“The purpose of the amateur league is to issue pro cards to eventual winners and the role of the pro league is to qualify people for the Olympia. IFBB Olympia is without doubt the most prestigious bodybuilding and fitness competition in the world.”
At least 24 Zimbabwean athletes are expected to take part with registration pegged at $250 per individual and an athlete needs up to $2 000 for preps depending with the division.
