Silva has been on the prowl for a lethal forward and after close scrutiny he believes Gwekwerere can close the gap in his front line.

The forceful forward makes a return to the Glamour Boys having spent three years in Mozambique, where he turned out for Ferroviario de Maputo and later Textas.

He also played for rivals Caps United after a stint in South Africa where he turned out for Moroka Swallows.

Gwekwerere, who has been training with Dynamos since last week, has agreed a two-year deal with the club after impressing the under-fire Silva with his movement and goal-scoring instincts.

At training, Gwekwerere was initially deployed behind the main striker, but Silva is reported to have been impressed so much that he moved him to the point of the attack.

So charmed was Silva that he said about Gwekwerere to his bosses: “This is the sort of striker I have been waiting for.”

The Portuguese coach expects Gwekwerere to play a part on Sunday, but that would be subject to the availability of a reverse clearance from his former club.

The club management was expecting the player’s clearance by the end of day yesterday after which they would register him ahead of the big clash.

“Gwekwerere is expected to play against Caps United on Sunday. The club will regularise his paper work, the reverse clearance is expected today (yesterday),” a source told NewsDaySport.

Silva is under pressure to produce results following DeMbare’s stuttering form which saw them going for five matches without a win.

They had also not scored in those matches until Sunday when they overcame Mutare City Rovers 2-1 with Kudzanai Nyakasaka and Rodreck Mutuma hitting the nets.

The Portuguese coach is sitting on an ultimatum to collect nine points from three matches or face the sack.

Already he has cleared the first hurdle with the victory over Mutare City, but he still has two tough assignments against Caps United and a long trip to the Colliery where they face Hwange.

A stumble in any of the remaining two matches will effectively seal his fate. This means that if he draws against the Green Machine on Sunday, it will mark the end of his relationship with Dynamos.
