‘Mujuru prophet’ locked up

A SELF-PROCLAIMED prophet who last year “prophesied” that former Vice-President Joice Mujuru had been anointed by God to take over from President Robert Mugabe, has been arrested for alleged theft.

Lloyd Matikiti (30) of the Church of God was arrested on allegations of stealing a cellphone belonging to Clever Zindoga, a soldier based at One Air Defence in Redcliff.

Matikiti, who made headlines after claiming the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) was after him over the “prophesy”, has since denied the theft charge and was remanded in custody to next Tuesday.

It is the State’s case that sometime in December, Zindonga left his cellphone in his unlocked car and went to a nearby bar to buy some beer.

On his return, he found his phone and modulator missing from the car.

On February 19, Matikiti allegedly approached Zindonga and helped him recover his phone, which at the time was in Definate Chiwashira’s possession.

But Chiwashira then implicated his younger brother, Feknose Lema (28), who in turn implicated Matikiti, the initial whistle blower.

Lema, a co-accused, told the police Matikiti had given him the phone as surety for money he had lent him.

Appearing before resident magistrate Taurai Manwere, Matikiti was granted $100 bail on March 10, but was back in court on Tuesday after failing to raise the bail money.

Matikiti, who appeared in court in prison garb, will be back next Tuesday.

The value of the stolen property was $334 and only the phone, valued at $150, was recovered.

Zimbabwe courts are the crazest courts in the world, theft of a cellphone you remand someone in custody, instead of just sentencing him if its proven or ask him to come back to court. Magistrates don’t be politically abused you soil your CV, which sane gvt will entrust justice system in manipulated magistrates and judges.

I am curious about the phrase ‘self proclaimed prophet.’ Are not ALL prophets self proclaimed? If not, who has the authority to proclaim one?

This is what happens when ‘prophets’ want to be known after prophesying ‘prominent’ people. The end result is political interference with unjustifiable figures. Just do what you have been ‘sent’ to do and keep quiet.

Possibly the soldier was on a ‘mission’.

I am yet to know the value of the car in which the $184.00 worth of modulator was fitted. Secondly I believe a man who uses such a modulator would not use a cheap phone worth $150.00.

Surely how stupid could the prophet be to approach the complainant and help him recover his phone when he knew that he was the thief? Interestingly, one Chiwashira was found in possession of the phone and he implicated his younger brother Fecknose Lema- so, these two should also have been arrested. This could be politics at play. Thirdly what’s the soldier’s rank to afford the luxury of buying a $184 worth modulator?

Fecknose Lema? When you start hearing such names, you know you are in Zimbabwe. Did that prophet prophesy the whereabouts of the phone? Zvakaoma askana!
