CAPS United strikers – Leonard Tsipa and Simba Nhivi – could miss the club’s first pre-season international friendly football match against Kabwe Warriors of Zambia at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon after picking some knocks during training yesterday.

Fullback Ronald Pfumbidzai, who terminated his contract with Danish side Hobro IK and returned home to rejoin Caps United, might also not play in today’s match after he picked a knock.
Caps United team manager Shakespeare Chinogwenya said the trio’s unavailability was not much of a concern since the coaches wanted to assess new players.
“If they do not play, I don’t think it will be a problem for us,” Chinogwenya said. “They are established players whom we know already. This friendly match is not restricted. We are going to give almost every player a chance.”
The Green Machine have also agreed terms with former defender Gilbert Mapemba, who is now expected to sign a two-year deal this morning. Mapemba has been training with the Green Machine since leaving Moroka Swallows in South Africa, but the club appeared reluctant to sign him amid reports that they wanted a thorough assessment of the player before they could commit themselves to a deal.
However, the former Caps United defender appears to have convinced coach Lloyd Chitembwe that he still has a lot to offer to the team. Winger Tafadzwa Rusike, who has been playing his club football in Angola, is also expected to sign. If they sign, they could also play in the match.
Caps United are also expected to throw in some of their new signings, who include former Triangle midfielder Cabby Kamhapa, Devon Chafa, formerly with How Mine, and Edmore “Zikeeper” Sibanda, who makes a return having been banned over the Asiagate match-fixing scandal among others. After their international friendly against Kabwe Warriors, Caps United are set to travel to South Africa for a 10-day training camp, where they are expected to feature in practice matches against Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits in Pretoria.
