SOME Zanu PF youths in Goromonzi West have accused their MP, Beatrice Nyamupinga, of plotting to have them axed on allegations of working in harmony with a local opposition MDC-T councillor.

The ruling party youths claimed Nyamupinga was victimising any Zanu PF member suspected of co-operating with MDC-T’s ward 4 councillor, Clifford Nhamburo, in various developmental projects including distribution of food handouts.

But Nyamupinga yesterday dismissed the allegations and accused the youths of spreading falsehoods to tarnish her political image.

“The allegations from these Zanu PF youths are false because I have never involved myself in anything to do with MDC-T activities and if I have meetings with Zanu PF councillors and the councillor chooses not to come, it’s not my fault,” Nyamupinga said.

“I have never played a part in the distribution of inputs in that area, it’s none of my business. I am just a policymaker and that is all I do, represent my constituency in Parliament, and these allegations are new to me.”

But the youths, who declined to be named for fear of victimisation, insisted Nyamupinga wanted them kicked out of Zanu PF.

“She is unhappy that the MDC-T councillor is working well with everyone in ward 4 and beyond regardless of our different political persuasions and has gained popularity over our MP, who is always absent. Now she has targeted all Zanu PF members who are working with him,” a Zanu PF youth, who spoke on condition of anonimity, said.

They youths claimed Nyamupinga had instructed top civil servants in the constituency to sabotage developmental projects initiated by Nhamburo, adding the MP had appointed Mashonaland West Women’s League chairlady Evelyn Mupani to take over the distribution of the farming inputs and developmental duties in the area.

Mupani confirmed that she was now in charge of developmental projects and distribution of food aid and farming inputs in ward 4, saying she was acting on the instructions of Zanu PF.

“There are issues that have happened in the past and the party took a decision that I should now take control of developmental projects and distribution of inputs in this area,” Mupani said.

Nhamburo confirmed his fallout with Nyamupinga and the alleged attempts to sabotage some of his projects.

“I am aware of the attempts by Nyamupinga of throwing spanners in the works and that some Zanu PF youths have been targeted for working with me. I also know that civil servants and council employees have been ordered to sabotage my work. This sabotage is not affecting me, but the people that I am supposed to serve,” he said.
