How Mine sign new players

HOW Mine have finalised deals with Tsepo Rantokoane, Kudzi Chidewu and Toto Banda as they aim to replace the players whose contracts were not renewed at the end of the season.

Rantokoane was with ZPC Kariba last season, while Chidewu was with relegated Dongo Sawmill and Banda with Chicken Inn.
The club has also retained the services of goalkeeper Bernard Donovan.

Club chairman Paul McAndrew confirmed their new signing.

“We have so far contracted Tsepo from ZPC, Kudzi Chidewu from Dongo and Toto Banda from Chicken Inn and we have retained Bernard Donovan. We are still negotiating with other players,” he said.

Some of the players that are believed to have been released by the Metallon Gold-sponsored side include former captain Gilbert Banda, Menard Mupera, Benjamin Marere and Lewis Matawu.

Charles Sibanda is said to have started light training with the club, following a long layoff after he broke his collar bone in a road accident last year.

How Mine, who are believed to be wooing former Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu, denied that the Zambian national was at their training session on Wednesday.

Kaindu is believed to have been in charge during the team’s training session at How Mine on Wednesday, but McAndrew denied it.

“No Kelvin Kaindu was not at the training session. Pre-season training is being handled by Jerry Makota until we finalise the deal with the incoming coach,” he said.

Makota took over at How Mine following the resignation of former Masvingo United coach Luke Masomere last season.

Kaindu was with Triangle and started last season well, but somehow, his team failed to hang onto their position in the top three and finished the season in fourth place.

Triangle, however, insist that they still have a running contract with Kaindu.
