She said they were targeting 40 people, with 30% being awarded scholarships based on talent and ability to pay the $900 required for the course.

“We are offering a one-year Certificate in Professional Music course. The programme entails a curriculum developed by the German Global Music Academy based in Berlin and is offered on both fulltime (Monday to Friday 8am to 1pm) and part-time (Monday to Friday 5:30pm to 7:30pm and Saturdays 8am to 12pm) basis,” she said.

“The tutors are highly-trained specialist musicians and, hence, graduates of the programme have come out highly skilled professionals, who have become competent music teachers, trainers, consultants, practitioners and service providers of various fields in the vast music industry.”

Zambuko urged interested musicians to register for the auditions that are scheduled for February 1 at the offices situated at 10 Natal Road, Belgravia.

“We have very limited scholarships and we urge female musicians to apply,” she said.

The academy is a non-profit organisation using the power of music education, professional training, live performances and promotion of young talents to support the development of the music sector and cultural education.
