Speaking to NewsDay yesterday, Chipaz Promotions boss Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza said the Mama You Alone hit-maker would not touch down at Harare International Airport with his entire band owing to travel logistics.

He said they did not expect any glitches with all plans rolling out smoothly.

“I-Octane and his manager are expected in the country on Thursday on the 2am Ethiopian Airways flight to join two other band members who are expected in the country tomorrow (today) around 12 noon aboard South African Airways,” Chimbodza said.

Keeping with tradition trends, Chimbodza has organised a tour into the high-density suburbs among them Mbare and Highfield with I- Octane before the main show.

“As we always do, we will have a ghetto tour with the musician so that he meets his fans who are eagerly waiting for him to come and perform. We urge fans to come to the show in their numbers and celebrate in style with I-Octane,” Chimbodza said.

“There are no advance tickets for the show with all ticket sales being done at the venue. The most expensive ticket for the night will sell for $20 for the VIP enclosure while general entry tickets sell for $5 before 4pm.”

Chimbodza said they have created a VIP section as requested by some of the fans who said they wanted to enjoy the show while seated.

The Jamaican singer will be supported by local acts among them Winky D, Sniper Storm, Soul Jah Love, Platinum Prince, Dadza D, Ninja Kid, Seh Calaz, Lady Squanda, Freeman, Bontoman and Hwindi President, among others.

On the turntables will be Gary B and Templeman, Judgement Yard, DJ Cables, Smiley and Merciless among others.

I-Octane

Meanwhile, I-Octane’s welcome party has been slated for the newly-opened The Volt, formerly Book Cafe, located at the intersection of Samora Machel Avenue and Sixth Street in the capital.

The proprietor of the joint, Spencer Madziya, said hosting I-Octane’s welcome party was in line with their concept to host international artistes which was crucial for the showbiz industry as it provides a networking platform between local artistes and visiting musicians.

“We hosted Kalado and Charly Black welcome parties and this adds a feather in our cap as a business as more promoters are showing faith in us in holding such important events,” Madziya said.

“These events are crucial as this is the first experience any important visitor will have. It prepares the visiting artiste of what to expect as a build-up to the main show. Artistes also get an opportunity to interact for future business and collaborations.”

He said they had cemented several partnerships from welcome parties which would see the number of collaborations between local and foreign acts rising.
