The 18th edition of ICASA 2015 will be held from November 29 to December 4 at the HICC.

Speaking to journalists after a tour of the facilities last week, RTG sales and relationships manager, Pride Khumbula said the refurbishment was done on 1 000 seats, 3 500 lights, floors and bathrooms.

“We have redone the 1 000 ground floor seats. We have repositioned them and are in the process of refitting them. We have done the entire floor including the stage in the main auditorium and have done up the lighting,” he said.

“We have completely overhauled the washrooms. The exercise includes stripping down the sinks, urinals, toilets, tiling, ceiling, for both ladies and gents.”

The refurbishment was financed by the $350 000 donated to the hospitality group by First Lady Grace Mugabe.

The balance of $50 000 came from RTG coffers.

“We did the seats locally and had some cost saving on getting the necessary materials needed for the refurbishment,” Khumbula said.

“After the refurbishment, we will be able to host ICASA, as well as other international conferences with upgraded facilities.”

RTG is moving to increase its conferencing business to add to its existing revenue streams as business is being affected by the downturn of the economy.
