“There is need to support projects that transfer the women’s rights from paper into practice, where they become lived experiences. Such documents will help women explore their talent in an informed way and in the long run this will help them contribute to the welfare of their families effectively,” she said.

“We need to create a strong impact through raising awareness of sexual harassment through research-led policies that will bring long lasting solutions to problems bedevilling female artistes.”

Culture Fund director, Farai Mupfunya underscored the need to deal with problems from an informed view.

“All along, the basis we have been using to articulate issues affecting women were not documented. This research will enable various players in the arts fraternity to craft research-based policy and evidence-based programming with targeted solutions,” he said.
