THE first copy of sultry songbird, Cynthia Mare’s third album launched at a colourful event held at 7 Arts Theatre in Harare on Saturday night was sold for a staggering $1 000.

The copy was purchased by a top fan.
The ecstatic Zuva Rimwe hit-maker said she was pleased with her success, despite the hardships in the music industry.
“I am over the moon right now because it was hard, but I managed to overcome the challenges and I am honoured that all these people came to support me,” she said.
She saluted fellow musicians who attended the launch.
MDC-T legislator for Kuwadzana, Nelson Chamisa, who attended the launch, urged Mare’s fans to continue supporting her.

He said people should not lose their courage in the face of hardships.
“Shinga is an encouragement to all of us to be determined,” he said.
Chamisa urged policy makers to upgrade the standard of our local music by curbing piracy, which he said was destroying the music Industry.
“We need to deal with it (piracy) as a challenge so Parliament is coming up with a Bill to promote our local music industry,” he said.
Speaking at the launch, producer Clive Mono Mukundu said Mare had a bright future and the album had great potential.
“This event is well organised, very professional, world class and is one of the best so far, it shows maturity in our music industry,” he said.
Mare entertained the guests, together with Sebastian Magacha, Donald Kanyuchi, Baba Shupi, Titan and Victor Kunonga.
Other artistes who attended the launch were Edith WeUtonga, Dino Mudondo, Diana Samkange and Sandra Ndebele. Mare expressed gratitude to her family and sponsors for the successful launch.
