Malome Tau, a choreographer, dancer, musician and producer, is expected in the country tomorrow for the four-day event that will be held at Murewa Culture Centre under the theme Switch Murewa Green.
Festival programmes officer, Currathers Hungwe, said Malome Tau will facilitate some workshops meant to benefit the youths, while ZimDancehall chanter Killer T will also grace the festival.
“This year we are honoured to host Malome Tau from South Africa, who will lead a series of workshops. We engaged him because of his experience and our objective is for him to impart his skills to local artists especially those in the province,” he said.
Hungwe said Sekunjalo MaAfrica will also be performing at Murewa Culture Centre.
A number of cultural groups from this province will also participate at the event, Hungwe said.
Formed in 2012 the 15-member Sekunjalo MaAfrica is a self-sustaining cultural drama, music and dance ensemble, directed by Arnold Ndebele.

MECUF, formerly known as Murewa-Uzumba Cultural Festival (MUCUF) before turning into a provincial event, used to run concurrently with the popular Jerusarema/Mbende Festival before the organisers recently split the two.
The festival was founded in 2010 to fulfil the late Chief Jonathan Mangwende’s desire to have unification, promotion and celebration of the rich artistic and cultural heritage of his area in Murewa.
