“ I am happy that I won this award, but I also want to thank my colleagues on the business desk. It is all about hands on deck,” Mandizha said.

NewsDay Mashonaland East correspondent, Jairos Saunyama also grabbed two awards including the News Reporter of the Year gong.

The awards are an annual event organised by ZUJ and are open to local media practitioners who are recognised for their meaningful and outstanding contribution and creativity to shape Zimbabwe across all the sectors.

This year’s theme was A Professionally Empowered Media Workforce.

The event, which was attended by various stakeholders including sponsors, was officiated by Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere. He urged journalists to be professional in their work and verify facts before publishing their stories.
