In a statement early this week, the council said it planned to drill boreholes and construct roads, clinics and schools for the area’s estimated population of 120 000 people by next year.

The local authority, however, threatened to demolish all illegal structures built at sites reserved for schools and clinics.

“All illegal structures that were constructed on the sites will be pulled down,” the council said.

Saviour-Kasukuwure

The latest developments come in the wake of a recent tour of the area by a high-powered ministerial delegation led by Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere which drove out all land barons who illegally parcelled out land to desperate home seekers.
