One tweet, meme or Facebook post at a time, Zimbabweans – known for their humour- are poking fun at the national electricity provider, Zesa, for its acute 18-hours-a-day power cuts that have left the already teetering country in the dark.
With no solution to the crises of the country, it would, perhaps be fair to conclude that even government officials themselves – despite having lights at their homes and offices- are also in the dark, but in a different way!
Interestingly, as this crisis deepens, ordinary Zimbabweans are increasingly spending more time foraging for the scarce dollars to pay for, among other things, electricity bills, firewood, paraffin or gas.
This is because despite the unavailability of electricity, Zesa, in a show of unrivalled debt follow up efficiency, never stops knocking doors for its money.
With companies shutting down or scaling down, the burden is increasingly becoming huge on the hard-pressed ordinary Zimbabwean.
But that will not stop the same ordinary Zimbabweans to find humour from such distressing situations.
Some have taken to social media to create memes, tweets and posts that, in a satirical way, tell the story of the electricity crisis.
