BY ARTS REPORTER The unveiling ceremony will run concurrently with his album launch after-party to be hosted by The Avon Restaurant between 2 and 6pm.

The Avon Restaurant general manager Judith Mahati said they were happy to be working with Moyo in reaching out to the less privileged. PETER-MOYO “We’re not just about making profits, but reflecting on what is happening around us. As we look at ways of giving back into the community, we have enlisted the services of sungura star Peter Moyo as our Goodwill Ambassador and we will be working together in fundraising efforts as well as other outreach programmes to charity homes around Zimbabwe,” she said.

Mahati revealed that Moyo will be unveiled as the restaurant’s ambassador today.

“Peter Moyo will be launching his new album Mabasa aMwari at 7 Arts and we have decided to host his album launch after-party tomorrow,” she said.

The “Young Igwe”, as fans fondly call him, revealed that the Goodwill Ambassador status will be a big plus for his career.

“Good things are happening in my life and I am really thankful to God for this purple patch. The original Utakataka Express backing group is now back and my second album is here,” he said.

“I’m even more elated with the Goodwill Ambassador status which The Avon Restaurant is bestowing on me.” “This new-found status will help me reach out to more disadvantaged people and I thank The Avon Restaurant for considering me.”

Peter revealed that the Saturday after-party will also give him an opportunity to interact with his fans young and old alike while he also gets to sign copies of his new album for members of the public.

There will also be a full bar and catering plus red carpet photo shoot sessions with fans. Fast-rising jazz sensation Myrah Dube and her backing group will be entertaining music lovers.

Once every three months, The Avon Restaurant will be donating to a charity home to be identified and on such occasions they will prepare special meals and other donations for handover with Moyo and his backing group providing entertainment.
