Zifa is set to officially announce its partnership with Joma this afternoon at a function where the new national team kit will be unveiled.

The football mother body announced on its website yesterday that they would announce a new kit deal that would benefit all national teams, the mother body and fans alike.

“The Zimbabwe Football Association would like to inform the football fraternity and the nation that it will tomorrow (today) launch new national team kits at the Country Club in Highlands,” Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela said.

“We are delighted to announce that we have secured a reputable technical partner that will kit all national teams. “The internationally recognised partner will provide merchandise and replica jerseys and this important deal is set to benefit the association.

“This is a landmark deal and we urge all Zimbabweans to purchase the merchandise at selling points that will be announced tomorrow (today).”

Since Zifa’s relationship with Umbro broke down last year, the national team has had no kit sponsors even though they continued to use that brand.

While Zifa has not revealed the technical partner, NewsDay understands that Joma, who also kit out Caps United, will dress the Warriors starting with the match against Guinea next week.

Zifa had put the kitting of the national teams to tender, but the response was poor and Joma later came in with their proposal which was favourable to Zifa.

Because there is a replica jersey supply, Zifa is set to benefit financially from the deal. With the Warriors having started their Afcon campaign on a good note coupled with the strong squad that has been picked for the next match, the replicas are likely to fly off the shelves, if reasonably priced.

The Caps United replica costs $30.
