IN what could be described as a major turnaround within the Somanje family, Marondera-based top promoter Daniel Masaiti will this weekend host Pengaudzoke founder Josphat alongside his late brother Daiton’s son, Faheem.

The gig, slated for The Legends Sports Diner in Marondera on Saturday, will be the duet’s first since the death of Daiton.
Masaiti, who recently pledged to assist Faheem to revive Pengaudzoke through offering him slots at The Legends Sport Diner, yesterday told NewsDay that Saturday’s gig is meant to unite the Somanje family and revive the late Daiton’s dream
“The weekend event is one of a kind. I am bringing the Somanjes under one roof, a move meant to put back Pengaudzoke on the map. Josphat and Faheem are going to share the stage. They have some songs they are going to do together and this is what people have been waiting for,” said Masaiti.
“Faheem needs his uncle’s experience for him to lead the big Pengaudzoke ensemble and bringing them together is of great importance to Penga music.”
So far, Faheem’s three shows at The Legends have attracted sizeable crowds and the youthful musician has never disappointed. After the death of his father a few months ago, Faheem was fortunate to have musician Nicholas Zakaria and promoter Masaiti who are assisting him to stand on his feet.
Faheem told NewsDay that he has been longing to perform alongside his uncle Josphat.

“I am happy to perform alongside my uncle and having him around me means that he is supporting me. He is a successful musician who put up Pengaudzoke and his experience is valued by the entire team,” said Faheem.
The Legends, located at the heart of Nyameni high-density suburb about two kilometres from Marondera Town, has become the hub of entertainment since it was opened two years ago and is also famed for hosting established musicians.
Faheem is one of the few upcoming musicians who have slots at the joint.
