The two sides are on 26 points from 12 matches, having won eight, drawn two and lost two apiece and only separated by a goal difference.

Ambitious Bulawayo City, coached by former Premier Soccer League (PSL) gaffer Philani “Beefy” Ncube last week pummeled Mpumalanga 4-0 at Luveve Stadium to claim the top spot dislodging ZPC Hwange, who were held to a goalless draw by Casmyn.

Chiefs also bagged maximum points after beating former PSL outfit Bantu Rovers 2-1 at Fairbridge.

The former Zifa Southern Region Division One champions coach Thulani Sibanda, also a former PSL coach, is unfazed about playing Bulawayo City.

“It is just any other game. It is not the end of the season yet and we are not under pressure at all. Anything can happen in Saturday’s (tomorrow) game. The team that will win more games at the end of the season will be the champions,” Sibanda said.

In the Northern Region, high-flying Ngezi Platinum will be seeking to extend their unbeaten run to 14 matches when they host Seven Flames at Baobab tomorrow.

Despite being held to a 0-0 draw away to ZRP FC on Saturday, Ngezi Platinum remain at the summit of the league table with 31 points after 13 matches in the campaign.

They have won nine matches to date, drawn four and a win over Seven Flames will take their points tally to 34.

Clifton Kadurira’s charges have established themselves as favourites to win the sole ticket to the PSL next season. Having acquired some former PSL players including veteran former Triangle and Blue Rangers forward Daniel Kamunhenga, former Harare City players Nomore John and Edgar Tapera, they are a formidable side difficult to break down.

That they have scored an unrivalled 27 goals in 13 matches speaks a lot about their lofty ambitions. Now the question is: Can Seven Flames stop them? Seven Flames arrive at Ngezi Baobab low on confidence having been defeated 1-0 at home by Blue Swallows last Sunday.

Placed on 16th position with just 13 points in 13 matches, Seven Flames have a tall order as they make the trip to Ngezi. Southern Region fixtures
