LOG leaders Chicken Inn failed to score at Luveve Stadium for only the first time this season when they were held to a goalless draw by visiting Triangle in a dull Castle Lager Premier Soccer League yesterday.

The GameCocks, however, maintained their two-point lead over their opponents, having collected 19 points so far this term.

Triangle head coach Kelvin Kaindu, making his first visit to Bulawayo after he quit Highlanders last year, was mobbed by some Bosso fans who watched that match, but was he was not happy with his players’ performance.

“For us to get a point from a team that is leading the log was a bonus, but it was a boring game. This is not the way that we normally play. It is two points dropped for us,” Kaindu said.

Triangle lost two players due to injury, Hillary Bakacheza and Richard Kawondera in the second half and that was when they showed an intention of getting a goal.

Chicken Inn, on the other hand, wasted a number of chances especially in the first half with Mitchelle Katswairo twice failing to find the back of the net in the 22nd and 24th minutes, while Thabani Goredema’s effort from a set piece was tipped over the bar by Triangle goalkeeper Ronald Mudimu.

Edmore Chirambadare hit the crossbar in the 47th minute after dribbling past defender Dumisani Ndlovu on the left.

Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas said the draw was a fair result.

“It was a tight game and I think it was a fair result. We missed a couple of chances especially in the fairst half. Credit to the Triangle defence who gave a brilliant display,” Antipas said.
