Drama at Dongo Sawmill

A DAY after appointing Partson Ndabambi as head coach for troubled Premiership side Dongo Sawmill, owner Francis Dongo and the nomadic coach yesterday parted ways over alleged misunderstanding on the gaffer’s welfare.

“I was worried with his behaviour. He was too demanding on the first day and it came to me that we were not going to work together amicably. He was already partying in our local bars on the first day and I had to send one of my officials to him so that he should not report for duty because the character is not good,” Dongo said.

Ndabambi, however, claims that he was shocked by the reception he got at the club as soon he arrived in Rusape on Tuesday and yesterday he was already back in Harare.

“We had agreed on everything with Francis Dongo, but you know that I am a seasoned coach and there are things I expect and want. First, the reception was not good at all. I arrived in the afternoon and there was no one to pick me up and I had to wait for about three hours,” he said.

“Then I was told that the former coach (Shadreck Mugurasave) was going to introduce me to the players and this is unheard of. The same night, I was told to sleep at my relatives that I actually don’t have in Rusape.”

Yesterday, Mugurasave said he was still in charge and took the players through their paces at Vengere Stadium.

“I am still in charge. Yes, I have read about the changes in the newspapers and there is nothing like that. If it is true, why am I taking the players through their paces?” he said.

Under the new structure, Mugurasave was set to be Ndabambi’s assistant.
