THE Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) will tonight reverberate to the sounds of contemporary musician Jah Prayzah and his Third Generation band as they launch their much-awaited sixth album Jerusarema.

Jah Prayzah, real name Mukudzeyi Mukombe, is affectionately known by his legion of fans as Musoja (Soldier) after his signature band uniform of military regalia.
His manager, Keen Mushapaidze, told NewsDay yesterday that all was set for the launch – where Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be the guest of honour – and they were now putting the final touches.
“The album is now ready and final preparations are now being done. We have done all we can to ensure the album, the event and everything else goes smoothly. It is now up to the fans to take the product and enjoy it,” he said.
He said although they had traditionally done 10-song albums, the new album – which was mixed and mastered by Keith Farquharson –will carry 11 tracks because they had difficulties in dropping any of the songs because they all sounded good.
“Keith was a joy to work with and has also given us the boost in confidence. We now have the master, and all tracks are world-class in terms of sound quality,” he said.
“Hopefully, they will appeal to the fans who are going to listen to it.”

The launch will be filled with activities as Jah Prayzah will perform tracks from the new album and many of his friends in the music circles – including Sulumani Chimbetu, Cynthia Mare, Tehn Diamond and Mudiwa – will partake in the fun.
Jah Prayzah, a hither to unknown entity, hit the big time in 2012 following the release of Sungano, which brought him commercial success. The album carried songs such as Sungano Yerudo and attracted much attention, including that of top music promoter Patson Chimbodza.
In 2012, Jah Prayzah released Ngwarira Kuparara, which carried tracks like Gotchi Gotchi, Maria, Ngwarira Kuparara and Dande.
The album saw him becoming a household name and he quickly became a must-get musician and regularly performed at Jazz 105.
The release of the album Tsviriyo in 2013 further consolidated his rise to the top. Businessman Phillip Chiyangwa reportedly pledged to purchase the first CD copy of the album for $12 000 at an auction held during the launch.
NewsDay is, however, reliably informed that the money was not handed over in cash but instead the musician got residential stand in Mabelreign.
