Gumede made it clear yesterday that violence has in the past cost the club a lot of money in fines.

In their last encounter against Caps United in Bulawayo, there were violent scenes both inside and outside the stadium after the hosts had lost 2-0.

“While we regret the skirmishes that happened during the Bob 91 encounter, our genuine supporters know that any skirmishes cost the club in terms of fines,” said Gumede.

“We must exercise restraint particularly during a league match where there are three possible outcomes. A win, a draw and a loss. If we win let us celebrate with humility, if we lose we must accept our fate with dignity,” he added.

Gumede said they have put in place strict measures to avoid situations that will disturb proceedings on the match day and that they would be working closely with police.

“We will not allow anyone without a PSL privilege card to enter the stadium freely. The police and some of our security personnel would also be on the lookout for those that try and bring alcohol into the stadium,” said Gumede.

A number of supports sneak alcohol into the stadium despite the fact that none is permissible as the bottles end up being the weapons that people use against players.

“When a person comes to the stadium already drunk there is nothing much that we can do however we will be on the lookout for people who bring alcohol into the stadium. Some of them bring it in through the toilet vents while others use ropes from within the stadium to pull the bottles,” he said.

Highlanders, Dynamos and Caps united matches have previously seen violence erupt during and after the match at times causing stoppage of the match for long periods.
