In the track, the two juggernauts of Zimbabwe’s urban music come together to collaborate on a song with a high energy delivery and an impressive video that is set to raise the bar for Zimbabwean and African visuals.

“The video took us about six months to complete. We started collecting footage in June last year up until New Year’s Eve then we collated all we had and built the storyboard around that, using the footage we captured in Las Vegas as the anchor,” the artistes’ spokesperson Phil Chard said.

The groundbreaking video for Party was directed by Chris Shoca and blend scenes of Ray Dizz performing and touring in Las Vegas with clean studio shots in which he features together with Tagz.

According to Chad, the beautiful images capture the essence and energy of the song perfectly as people see how two of Zimbabwe’s biggest urban acts party.

“Our biggest challenge was getting approval from all the parties involved. The video was shot at Marcquee Club in Vegas and the marketing team is extremely strict on how they want their club to be portrayed,” he said. Chad added that there was a lot of footage from other venues in Vegas that they had to edit out.

The event in Las Vegas was the Miller Soundclash finals where Ray Dizz finished in the top five. He said Miller had certainly been extremely helpful in ensuring the video was the best it could be. Party originally appeared on the Black project by Simba Tagz. It was produced by Kyle Abrahams, a Zimbabwe-born producer based in London, who has produced hits for popular names internationally such as Kid Ink, Jessie J, Connor Maynard, Angel and many others.

The song’s melodic chorus which fuses hip-hop, R&B and dance music perfectly is sure to be a hit on dance floors in and beyond Zimbabwe.

“The original version of Party has already been a massive club hit in several venues here in Zimbabwe; the video and the remix will help push this song to a wider audience across the continent,” he said.

Chad said the response to the video online had been amazing so far and they could leverage the collective influence of combined audiences.

“For Party we have the advantage of utilising Kyle Abrahams’ fan base in the UK as well as following Simba Tagz and I have back here in Zimbabwe,” Ray Dizz said.

He added that they could now hopefully get some Americans to catch on to the amazing work they were doing in Zimbabwe and use it as a springboard to get the rest of Africa to start paying attention to their work.
