Govereh was the guest speaker at an annual marriage conference held in Harare at the weekend.

The aim of the conference was to help couples to resolve some of their marital problems amicably.

“Marriage is a relationship where forgiveness is always exercised,” Govereh said. “People are subconsciously attracted to persons whose weaknesses are their strengths and subconsciously attracted to those whose strengths complement their weaknesses because God is the matchmaker.”

Govereh, a counsellor with vast experience, said the weaker party in a marriage was uplifted by the stronger because marriage was about complementing each other in line with the provisions of the Bible where the character of a saved wife could help change the behaviour of an unsaved husband.

Speaking at the same conference, Pastor Alex Odengbo of Character Academy Christian Centre said many couples were living in unpalatable conditions that were detrimental to their children’s wellbeing.

“Cohesion in the family is about bringing parents together. Living under one roof does not necessarily mean that you are living together,” he said.
